Magnetic mosquito net frame broken? Don’t worry, it can be repaired.

After prolonged usage, the plastic frame of a magnetic mosquito net tends to break. You can’t glue the 2 broken parts together with superglue. It will just break again the next day when you attempt to flip open the mosquito net to open your window. Here is a method on how to repair it.

Remove the entire mosquito net from the window and lay it flat on the floor. Get a piece of flat, long, sturdy plastic, such as a PVC casing for electrical wiring. The length of the PVC casing should not be too short compare to the length of the mosquito net frame, in this case, 300mm long is about right.

Use double sided tape to temporarily stick the PVC casing right on top of the broken mosquito net frame.

From the edge of the PVC casing, drill 2 rows of multiple small holes across the PVC plastic casing, through the mosquito net frame below. Refer to the illustration below, for the top row, drill at position 5mm, 40mm, 80mm, 120mm, 160mm, 200mm, 240mm and 280mm. For the bottom row, drill at position 20mm, 60mm, 100mm, 140mm, 180mm, 220mm, 260mm and 295mm

Use sewing thread to bind the PVC casing to the mosquito net frame. Sewing thread is thin and soft yet it is strong; it won’t obstruct the magnetic attachment of the mosquito net frame to the window grille.

Once done, install the mosquito net frame back to the window grille. Everything works fine again.
