In this article, we are going to show you how to repair a toy fan, as shown below.
Whenever you go for an outdoor family trip with your toddler, especially during summer, this toy fan comes in handy. It is powered by 2 AA size batteries. It has a springy clip at its bottom where you can easily clip it to your baby stroller or your backpack. The soft and colorful fan blades are so eye catching, couple with the cool breeze, it can easily put a heart melting smile on your toddler's face.
However, there is a problem with the durability of this fan. The cylindrical plastic part that hold the fan blades to the rotating motor shaft is relatively fragile. The entire fan blades fall apart once the plastic part is broken, as shown in the picture below.
Since it is malfunctioned, off to the garbage bin it goes. But wait!!! We can fix this easily. Here's how.
Let's fix it
Get an empty pen lead. Cut a small portion as shown below. Length wise, around 8mm will do.
Use a screw and a screwdriver to poke a hole at the center of the fan blades as shown. Alternatively, you can use a drill to drill a proper hole.
Insert the 8mm long empty pen lead into the hole and secure it with super glue. Leave it aside overnight.
Install the fan blade back to the motor shaft as shown after the empty pen lead is firmly secured in place.
There you go, the fan can now function properly again. One garbage lesser for mother earth to handle; yet another heart melting smiles on your toddler's face.
